How Do I Pay Freelancers?

Guide on paying freelancers on Ubertalent: set up payments, manage contracts, track work, and process payments.

Setting Up Payment

Once a client and freelancer have agreed to work together, they can create a contract using the Ubertalent Payment Processing system or decide on an alternative payment method that suits both parties.

Paying Freelancers Through Ubertalent

  1. Create a Contract:

    1. When creating the offer to send to the freelancer, by default, the contract will use the payment processing system.

    1. If you haven't already set up your payment information, the platform will prompt you to do so to send the offer.

    2. If you prefer not to use Ubertalent's payment processing, you can opt out when creating the offer.

    3. Once the freelancer accepts the offer, the contract will be created.

  2. Track Work and Milestones:

    • Use the Timesheets page to track the freelancer’s work hours.

  3. Make a Payment:

    1. Payments can be processed directly through Ubertalent’s Payment Processing system.

    1. If agreed upon, payments can be made directly to the freelancer outside the platform. Ensure all terms and schedules are clearly communicated and documented.

Payment Method Setup:

  1. Access Payment Settings:

    • Go to your account settings and select the "Payments" section.

  2. Add Payment Method:

    • Click the button to add a Stripe account.

    • Follow the steps outlined in Stripe to connect your account.

  3. Verify SetUp:

    • Once completed, return to the Ubertalent platform. You will see a message confirming that your Stripe account has been successfully connected.

Understanding Fees

When using Ubertalent’s Payment Processing system, a fee of 5% will be applied to each transaction. This fee covers the cost of processing payments through our platform.

Fee Details:

  • Amount: 5% of the total payment amount.

  • Applied To: All payments processed through Ubertalent’s Payment Processing system.

Alternative Payment Method

  • Freelancers and clients can agree on direct payment methods outside the platform, such as bank transfers, PayPal, or other payment services.

  • Ensure all terms and payment schedules are clearly communicated and agreed upon to avoid any disputes.

  • If payment is made outside the platform, it’s advisable to record the transaction within Ubertalent for reference and tracking.
